Shalani’s Singing Career

In the passing months, classy and demure Shalani Soledad, co-host of Willie Revillame in TV5′s ‘Willing Willie’ has slowly learned the ropes of hosting a game show, batting jokes with Willie which may be scripted and partly rehearsed is a good development nevertheless.

She may also be  joining the singing bandwagon which quite amuses me. In addition to her single in Willie’s “I Love You” album, Shalani, tonight  is singing again, “Kung Liligaya Ka” with a double ounce of confidence, not a pro singer of course but her voice is a pleasant surprise and I’m beginning to like this girl. She may be giving some local artists a run for their money.

Willie Revillame and the Law of Giving

I refused to watch Willie Revillame’s shows back in ABS-CBN for the very reason that I consider his jokes sexist. I have observed him in the early days of his career hosting game shows with John Estrada and Randy Santiago. In these shows women were treated as things to be poked and made fun with. Willie has had his share of downfalls getting suspended, losing his work and then getting a better chance and then the cycle comes again, until he had transfigured himself into a generous game show host still at ABS-CBN. But I was not convinced yet and besides the TV network has a questionable integrity. So I refused to watched.

When he moved to TV5, I started watching the show with my mother. I admit I am entertained, crying in sympathy with the fate of the contestant but most often laughing at their hilarious personality and their true to life revelations. This is one of the strengths of the show which tickles the sentiments of people from all walks of life and this is also hard to duplicate by any game shows especially hypo-krissy.

To begin with there is so much money, freebies, cars and houses to give away generously for the guests. Second, Willie has his way of digging into people’s lives without violating their privacy, in fact, in the process of doing it he becomes an instant psychologist fixing couple’s and family’s strained relationship. Third, I noticed, that Willie is compassionate and generous. This must be the reason why, inspite of his reputation and controversies he is blessed.

That is basically one of the laws of the universe. You give in order to receive. You give more and receive more. This is how to maintain a healthy and constant flow of wealth. If you withhold giving, the repository of your wealth becomes too heavy until it can no longer carry the weight and explodes. But if your give, you are opening an outlet in your treasury where your wealth can flow to others and because you are creating ample space, more will flow into your other outlet which is the receiving side, making your storehouse amply supplied and healthy.

That’s it! This must be how Willie does it. He knows the law and he is blessed, which is translated to more audience, more viewers, high ratings, more sponsors and more blessings. God Bless you Willie!

Housemaid Won 1 Million in Willing Willie

The housemaid who looks like she has a slight dent in her cognitive ability won a whooping one million pesos, plus a two-bedroom house and lot courtesy of Manny Villar’s Camella Homes and a Foton Van last night, March 18, 2011.

She cannot maintain eye to eye contact much less look at the camera for ten seconds, instead, her eyes, without her even knowing it, automatically rolls over and fixes themselves into the ceiling. Asked why she does it, she said, “God is up there.”  She had been tightly hugging and kissing Willie for almost the entire duration of the segment, wishing how much she had prayed for somebody like Willie to come into her life, making the host slightly uncomfortable.

Dazed and over excited, the confused woman merrily budges from one corner to the other carrying her package. And yet, inspite of herself, she seemed to know the songs which put her ahead of the others close to the jackpot prize.

The few seconds before she spun the wheel, she bowed and prayed over the letter W gesturing with her hands with what could be a sign of the cross.

The soft side of Willie never made it difficult for the audience to know the woman has won the jackpot. His questions were leading, his eyes darting in a way to tell the audience and the woman not to go home with the 500 thousand pesos.

In the end the woman shoot herself into the floor, flat in her stomach, embracing and kissing. She did not spare the expressionless Shalani Soledad and Willie. The latter she was hugging and kissing tightly in profuse gratitude and prayers.

Fhemia advises the audience to keep praying and to keep the faith for she has been praying for these blessings all her life and it comes no matter if it is already later in her life. She wanted a house but her salary of 4 thousand pesos which goes to her unemployed siblings is not enough, leaving her only a little for her clothing and toiletry allowance.

Now, that she has a car, a house and a million pesos, I hope she knows how to spend it wisely without necessarily spoiling her siblings. This woman with very little in the area of education has a big heart for her family and it could probably be why she is blessed.
